The bottom floor of this restaurant is filled with wooden tables and benches that seat the masses during breakfast and lunch, the second floor is a more upscale dining area which retains a very cleanly rustic feel, wooden furniture, with bright copper fixtures. While they do have other options on the menu, almost everyone comes here for the old fashioned northern hotpot. The prolific Dong Lai Shun chain has at least 50 locations in Beijing.

A split level restaurant, the bottom is a cafeteria style setting for quick breakfasts and lunches on a budget, ordered from a point-and-pay line up. The upstairs is a more upscale sit-down style hot pot meal, ordered from a menu at tables suitable for small parties. One of the nicest aspects of the hot pot meal upstairs is the extra seasonings reflecting the northwest, muslim style hotpot traditional of the heavy, bold flavors of fermented tofu and mashed garlic.
