Lebanese in Central

Over the weekend I happened to be in Central two nights in a row. The first night, before coming back to Causeway, my friend suggested that we stop by a Lebanese cafe for a late snack. And so I was introduced to the Beyrouth Cafe.

Beyrouth serves up staple Middle Eastern cuisine in tin-foil wrapped pitas. The glass display case conveniently shows off the entire menu, including hummus, falafel, and kebabs of all descriptions, with your choice of five or six different sauces. The first night I had the falafel with mint yogurt and a dash of chili sauce.

The second night I went with the shish kebab with garlic sauce. The garlic sauce was incredibly potent - I'd recommend sticking to the yogurt and chili sauce, unless you're a true garlic aficionado with understanding friends.

The interior of the place does have some limited bar-style seating along the wall and a selection of the day's news papers to pursue through if you want to perch while eating your pitas, but we noticed most of the patrons ordering take out exclusively. After back-to-back trips it's confirmed: Beyrouth is a great place to grab the culinary version of a nightcap after an evening out on the town.
